When looking for Chesapeake puppies, always research the parents health clearances. "Eyes clear" does NOT indicate CERF exams. A dog without a CERF number should be questioned. Puppies CANNOT be OFA normal. OFA rates hip from excellent to severely dysplastic. Normal hips are graded as: excellent, good or fair. OFA numbers are available AFTER 24 months of age NOT before. A dog without an OFA number should be questioned. Dogs with hips scored as borderline or dysplastic (mild, moderate, severe) are not eligible to receive OFA breeding numbers.

BOTH parents need to have ratings for CERF and OFA or PennHip. Take the time to research. A good starting place is to visit "My Favorite Links" page. From there you can review CBR health information on OFA's site as well as CERF's either by a dogs name or registration number. I have created links to both.
